Method
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This ensures a nice, crisp finish on your rolls.
- Step 2: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle. Make sure it's not too thick!
- Step 3: Cut the pastry into strips, approximately 3 inches wide. This will be just the right size for your sausage filling.
- Step 4: In a bowl, mix the sausage meat with thyme, salt, and pepper. Get your hands in there; it’s the best way to combine the flavors!
- Step 5: Place a line of the sausage mixture along the center of each pastry strip. Don’t be shy with the filling!
- Step 6: Fold the pastry over the sausage mixture and seal the edges by pressing with a fork. This keeps all that delicious filling tucked inside.
- Step 7: Cut each roll into your desired lengths and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. This makes clean-up a breeze!
- Step 8: Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired. This adds a wonderful shine and texture.
- Step 9: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Your kitchen will smell heavenly!
- Step 10: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. I know it’s tempting, but a little cooling time helps the flavors meld beautifully.
Notes
Store leftover rolls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze them baked or unbaked. Just make sure to wrap them well!
