Ingredients

For the Marinara Sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil for sautéing
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes for marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
For the Pasta
  • 12 oz pasta of your choice any shape works
  • 8 oz mozzarella balls bocconcini, for spooky eyeballs
  • Black olives

Equipment

  • Large Saucepan
  • Large Pot
  • Serving Bowl

Method

  1. Step 1: In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Step 2: While the sauce is simmering, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Step 3: In a large serving bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the marinara sauce. Toss to coat evenly. Add the mozzarella balls and sliced olives to the pasta, arranging them to resemble eyes.
  4. Step 4: Serve immediately, enjoying the spooky Halloween theme!

Notes

Feel free to get creative! Swap out the mozzarella balls for other cheeses like feta or goat cheese, or add cooked ground meat or sautéed veggies for extra texture.
